Student Counsellor Placements
At the Listening Post C.I.C, We feel we have a duty to also support and encourage future counsellors.
We have limited availability for student counsellors looking to complete their hours towards their qualification.
All students on placement with us, have access to a lead counsellor, who have a wealth of experience and knowledge within the counselling field to ensure that you are able to work ethically and safely whilst also gaining the experience needed.
We invest in all our counsellors both qualified and those on placement with access to regular training and CPD events.

What our students on placement say
I have carried out my placement with The Listening Post. I have worked with Clients, both face to face, via the telephone and also on line. Being able to use all three mediums was invaluable for me and has enabled me to feel confident in these approaches moving forward. I was also offered clients with varying issues, allowing me to expand my knowledge and skill set. My Line Managers at TLP were always available to support me and help me should I need it. All the staff are always friendly and supportive and I have really gained so much from this placement. I was sad to leave but also knew with the support and encouragement that I received, that this was the right time for me. I would just like to say thank you and I hope that our paths will cross in the future.

Volunteer Roles
We are always looking for volunteers, to help us continue providing our service.
We offer volunteer roles in:
Receptionists
We have at times spaces for volunteers on our reception desk, the week is usually split into AM and PM sessions. Ideal for anyone looking to get back into work or have a general interest in Mental health. We also have student counsellors in their beginning of training as volunteer receptionists.
Event helpers
As we are a not for profit and working for the community, we attend a lot of community events, to enable us to ensure the community know of our services. So we are interested in those that would like to help at these events. They generally run for a full day.
Fund raisers
Again as a not for profit, we can not just rely on funding always being available or successful, So we are interested in anyone that like to Fund raise. We are open to all ideas and areas of fund raising.
